Remote Work Policy

Guidelines and expectations for employees working remotely at SOLV(X)

SOLV(X) is a remote-first company. This policy defines expectations for all remote employees to ensure we work effectively as a distributed team.

Eligibility

All full-time employees are eligible to work remotely. Some roles may require occasional on-site presence — your employment agreement will specify any requirements.

Core Working Hours

While we respect different schedules and time zones, all employees are expected to be available and responsive during core hours of 10am–4pm in their local time zone.

Outside of core hours, async communication is the norm. You are not expected to respond to messages immediately.

"Available" means reachable on Slack and able to join a call within 30 minutes notice. It doesn't mean you must be at your desk continuously.

Workspace Requirements

To work remotely effectively, you need:

Internet

  • A stable broadband connection capable of video calls (minimum 10 Mbps upload/download)
  • A backup option (mobile hotspot) for connection failures during critical meetings

Equipment

SOLV(X) provides the equipment you need. See the Equipment Request process if you need anything additional.

Standard provision includes:

  • Laptop
  • Headset or earbuds with microphone
  • Additional monitor (on request)

Security

  • You must use the company VPN when accessing internal systems — see VPN Setup
  • Your workspace should be private when discussing confidential matters
  • Company devices must have their screens locked when unattended

Meetings

  • Keep your camera on during team meetings unless you've communicated otherwise
  • Be on time — remote meetings start on the dot
  • Mute when not speaking in group calls

Expenses

SOLV(X) reimburses reasonable home office expenses:

  • Monthly internet contribution: $50/month (submit via expense system)
  • Home office equipment: Approved via the Equipment Request process
  • Coworking space: Up to $200/month with manager approval

International Remote Work

Working from a country other than your country of employment for more than 30 days per year requires advance approval from HR due to tax and legal implications. Contact hr@acmecorp.com before making any such arrangements.

Failure to notify HR of extended international work may result in unexpected tax obligations for both you and the company.
