Time Off & Leave

How to request time off, types of leave available, and the approval process

SOLV(X) offers a flexible time off policy designed to support work-life balance. This page explains your entitlements and how to request leave.

Time Off Overview

The following video walks through our time-off policy and how to use the HR portal to submit requests.

Types of Leave

Full-time employees receive 20 days of PTO per year, accrued monthly from your start date. Part-time employees accrue PTO on a pro-rata basis.

PTO can be used for:

  • Vacation and personal time
  • Appointments and errands
  • Religious observances

Sick Leave

Separate from PTO, employees receive 10 sick days per year. Sick leave does not roll over and is not paid out on departure.

You do not need to "save" sick days for actual illness. Sick leave is also available for caring for an ill family member.

Public Holidays

SOLV(X) observes 10 public holidays per year. Your manager will share the holiday calendar at the start of each year.

Parental Leave

  • Primary caregiver: 16 weeks fully paid
  • Secondary caregiver: 4 weeks fully paid

Parental leave begins on the birth or adoption date. Contact HR to plan your leave before your expected date.

How to Request Time Off

  1. Log in to the HR portal
  2. Navigate to Time Off → New Request
  3. Select leave type and dates
  4. Add a note if needed (optional for PTO, recommended for longer absences)
  5. Submit — your manager will receive a notification to approve

For PTO of more than 3 consecutive days, give at least 2 weeks notice where possible. For public holidays around peak periods, give 4 weeks notice.

Approval Process

  • PTO (1–3 days): Manager approves within 2 business days
  • PTO (4+ days): Manager approves, HR notified
  • Medical leave: Requires HR involvement and doctor's certification
  • Parental leave: Plan with HR at least 8 weeks before expected start

PTO Rollover

Up to 5 days of unused PTO can roll over to the following year. Remaining PTO above 5 days is forfeited at year-end. There is no cash payout for unused PTO except on departure.
